News from the Glebe St James ReconciliAction Working Group
We are all on the road to truth, and through truth, to reconciliation, together.
The Women’s Intergenerational Group (WIG) helps to put the “action” in ReconciliAction
Did you know that, in Nunavut, nearly 70% of Inuit homes are food insecure and access to essential services such as healthcare or clean water is a constant struggle. The same is true for access to essential goods where, because of the harsh weather and remoteness of the communities, physical access is “fly-in” only and prices are astronomical. One of the groups most directly impacted by this reality is mothers and babies.
Starting with a Christmas project, WIG is hoping to make a difference by supporting an Iqaluit-based organization, “Northern Beginnings/One Plane Away”. This organization, based in Iqaluit and completely volunteer-led, was created to help remedy the situation by providing clothes and essential supplies to babies and moms in need.
Stay tuned for how you can help. For more information about this organization, have a look at
