About Glebe-St.James
Welcome!
Glebe-St. James is an Affirming Congregation in the United Church of Canada. Everyone AND their gender, race, ethnicity, abilities or sexual orientation is welcomed AND celebrated.
We're committed to acknowledging the Algonquin Peoples on whose traditional unceded lands we now gather: we acknowledge their story and their stewardship of the land and water, the plants and animals, through many generations.
These things are key to us: being a welcoming community (everyone is welcome - yes, EVERYONE), living out a faith committed to social justice, and worshiping in a thought-provoking and music-rich way.

Reconciliation
We continue to work as part of the spiritual and cultural change that grows out of the long-term process of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
Affirming
Every Sunday, GStJ’s commitment to inclusion is re-affirmed during the welcome “Everyone AND their gender, race, ethnicity, abilities or sexual orientation is welcomed AND celebrated. Yes, everyone!”

Music @ GSJ
Music is a very important part of life at Glebe-St. James. The musical tradition of the church is broad and varied, and has been supported by excellent leadership in the past and present Ministers of Music. Choral and congregational song are woven through Sunday morning worship, and the choir
meets to practice on Thursday evenings.
The Sunday afternoon concert series also features local artists and young talents.
History of Glebe-St. James
Perhaps not surprisingly, Glebe-St. James was once two congregations: Glebe Presbyterian and St. James Methodist. There are many beautiful works of art found in our current building at 650 Lyon St. S that help tell the story of where we are coming from and as the congregation continues to change and evolve, we are ever adding to this ongoing story.
