November 21 - Reign of Christ Sunday

November 19, 2021

Yes Christmas is coming! Join us this Sunday as we observe Reign of Christ Sunday and the Liturgical calendar.  We will also have the 'blessing of the quilts'!

A warm welcome to all joining us for this service, whether in person or on line, on November 21st for Reign of Christ Sunday. This week we will observe the importance of this day within the context of the liturgical calendar. Our service will also include the 'blessing of the quilts' - an annual tradition at Glebe St James in which baby quilts made over the past year will be dedicated and then gifted to St. Mary's Home in Ottawa.

Our Minister, the Rev. Teresa Burnett-Cole will lead the service.  The scriptures will be read by Barb Coyle and will include Luke 2:1-7, Isaiah 60:1-6, Luke 4:1-13, Luke 24:1-12, and Luke 9:12-17. James Caswell, Minister of Music, will be joined by choir members, Pam Fitch, Celine G, Jessica Simpson, Karen Walker, Jim Louter, Liz E, and Crystal Maitland to lead us in music and song.

Our service bulletin with hymns, texts and announcements is linked here.

Join in on the virtual offering plate for M&S, Outreach & GSJ operational needs! If you are attending in person, offering plates are available in the Narthex (front hall) of the Sanctuary. If donating online, you can indicate on the 'paypal' page where you want your gift to be dedicated to.

CLICK HERE for the livestream on YouTube at around 10:20 am (announcements) for the 10:30 am Sunday service; after the service you will be able to view a recording on YouTube by clicking the same link or by viewing in the video player below. Please consider 'subscribing' to the GSJ YouTube channel and use the 'notification' (the 'bell' symbol on the GSJ YouTube channel) to be notified when we go live. If, for any reason, the webcast is interrupted you should still be able to connect by looking for the red 'live' thumb-nail image

After the service, join the Women's Intergenerational Group  at 1:00 pm to hear special guest Elizabeth Sterritt who will speak with us (by Zoom) on the topic: "How do we interact with our adult children?  The message behind Intergenerational Mediation." Zoom link will be on the 'What's happening' web page.

One of the great spiritual questions is this: What do we see when we look at other people? Do we see strangers or neighbours? Problems or possibilities? Labels or beloved children of God? The answer matters, because what we see shapes how we live.
