The United Church website describes the history and symbolism of the crest, its 1944 origins, its 1980s update to include the french language, and its 2012 update include the colours of the medicine wheel.
They also include guidelines for use, noting that "Use of The United Church of Canada's crest must be approved by the General Secretary. Requests, preferably by e-mail, should be sent to Alison Jordan, Legal Assistant, at [email protected] . Once approval has been granted by the General Secretary, a copy of the crest will be sent by the graphics department by e-mail together with guidelines for use."
In November 2019 we received the following authorization for website-based use: "On behalf of Nora Sanders, General Secretary of The United Church of Canada, permission is hereby granted to use The United Church of Canada Crest on the website for Glebe-St. James United Church."
