Please join us on October 20, for World Hunger Sunday

October 18, 2024

Whether in person or on-line, join us this Sunday at 10:30 as we observe World Hunger Sunday

It is certainly appropriate and ironic, that the Sunday after Thanksgiving, we observe World Hunger Sunday!  Welcome to Glebe St. James as we gather together to worship and consider this basic human need.

Do you know about the Three Sisters? Many Indigenous People on Turtle Island have cultivated three plants together: squash, beans and corn; and they are known as the Three Sisters. The Three Sisters remind us about reciprocity, that each of us can share our gifts and benefit from each other.

Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett-Cole will lead the service. Marsha Hay Snyder will welcome us, Rev. Sue Toller will offer the land acknowledgement, and she will also lead the Theme Conversation for children and adults. Brad Munro will read the scripture: Job 38:1-7, 34-41. Our Minister of Music, James Caswell and the choir will lead us in music and song; the anthem will be "Bless the Lord, O My soul" by Mikail Ippolitof-Ivanof.

Here is the bulletin for the service to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs and prayers. You can join the service live at 10:25 am at this YouTube link; after the service ends it will be available to watch as a recording.

Join in on the online offering plate for M&S, Outreach & GSJ operational needs! If donating online, you can indicate on the 'paypal' page where you want your gift to be dedicated. Gifting by means of e-transfer is now accepted using the email: [email protected] (please indicate to which fund you wish your donation to go to).

You can now view the weekly announcement slides or on our "What's Happening?" page. Scroll through at your own pace, or let them auto-play - your choice! Sign up for our e-Update to keep up on more of the life and work of the church.

Let us know how we are doing! If you have any ideas, comments or feedback about the online (or in person!) worship experience, please contact the worship committee at: [email protected].

One of the great spiritual questions is this: What do we see when we look at other people? Do we see strangers or neighbours? Problems or possibilities? Labels or beloved children of God? The answer matters, because what we see shapes how we live.
