Join us! The first Sunday in Lent with GSJ, February 18th, 2024

February 17, 2024

Welcome to worship with Glebe - St. James - live at 10:30 am, or recorded here for whenever you're best able to join!

Welcome to the first Sunday in Lent!  In today's service we will reflect on the discipleship of Peter: Jesus called upon Peter to leave his fishing business behind and to join him in the mission to fish for people. Christ is calling you to follow him. He’s asking to use you and your boat. So, to what are you called? Where are you called to go? Who are you called to serve?

Also in this service we will celebrate communion so if you are participating with us from home, please prepare a cracker (or bread) and some appropriate beverage to eat and drink with us.

Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett Cole will preside, Pam Fitch will welcome us and Andy Hamilton will offer the land acknowledgment.  Sue Toller will lead the Theme Conversation for children and adults. Barb Colye will read the scripture: Psalm 25:1-10 and Luke 5:1-11. James Caswell and the choir will lead us in music and song and will sing "To Thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul" by Sergei Rachmaninoff in the Gift of Music.

Here is the bulletin for the service to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs and prayers. You can join the service live at 10:30 am at this YouTube link; after the service ends it will be available to watch as a recording.

One of the great spiritual questions is this: What do we see when we look at other people? Do we see strangers or neighbours? Problems or possibilities? Labels or beloved children of God? The answer matters, because what we see shapes how we live.
