Please join us this Sunday, June 9, 2024 as we celebrate the 100th year of Union!
This Sunday we begin celebrating the 100th year since the beginning of the United Church of Canada. Congratulations!

It’s Union Sunday – the beginning of the countdown to the United Church of Canada’s 100th birthday (the actual date of the Union is June 10,1925). Today we reflect on some of the words preached by the Rev. Samuel Rose in his sermon on June 10, 1925, "The Cross at the Heart of Life."
Rev. Dr. Teresa Burnett-Cole will preside, Hilda Sabadash will welcome us and Wendy Bergeron will offer the land acknowledgment. Rev. Sue Toller will lead the Theme Conversation for children and adults. The scripture readings will be John 12:20-28 read by Liz Elton. James Caswell and the choir will lead us in song and will sing "Lead Me, Lord" (Samuel Sebastian Wesley) as the Gift of Music.
As part of the sermon, Rev. Teresa will ask us to ponder 2 questions and to write down our responses. If you want to give them some advance thought, here they are:
- What do we as a congregation need to celebrate and then let go of? What needs to die? What resources have we been given that we are hoarding?
2. What hopes and joys are we called to plant in this world today? How are we called to plant the seeds of the gospel in our time and place?
Here is the bulletin for the service to follow along with the words of texts, hymns, songs and prayers. You can join the service live at 10:25 am at this YouTube link; after the service ends it will be available to watch as a recording.
