The SE Ottawa Cluster is a group of six United Churches in the SE section of Ottawa including Glebe St. James. Here is a calendar of activities of the Cluster.
Save the date for a special musical event at Glebe St James! May 31 at 7 PM!
It's been 5 years since Covid shut down all choirs and public events. Join us for a celebration of song with multiple choirs and special guest, Dr. Mark Wilkinson.
Update: Thank you to all who organized, led and participated in the Feb 23rd blanket exercise! Special thanks to those who cleaned up!
Over the next few months, the ReconciliAction Working Group will be looking at what we are currently doing at Glebe-St. James and what other actions we might be taking to cultivate strong relationships with the First Peoples of Canada. You will have the opportunity to join us on our learning journey over the next few months through such means as our e-updates, FaceBook (GSJ Community Group) or church website. Click link below for this week's update.
Great article in the Glebe Report written by our very own Pam Fitch! Give it a read!
"Public Foods - Your Community Fridge and Pantry" is located at 415 MacLaren -
Important Update!
Grand Re-opening! Please come and join us for an opportunity to thank those who helped us re-open OPF. This celebration will be very brief at 4-5 p.m. on November 20th. Drop by and have a hot chocolate with us and bring a contribution for the fridge or pantry.
Interested in helping? Talk to your local grocers and restaurants about making donations. Let's keep eliminating food waste and making sure it gets to those who could use it!
Pam invites members of our community to send her your thoughts on 'what brought you to Glebe-St. James'? Comments received by the end of November are most appreciated.
The ReconciliAction Working Group has prepared some simple guidelines for writing land acknowledgements to include in worship services at Glebe-St. James with the objective of encouraging more individuals to participate. Check them out at the link below!
Over the past three weeks, Susan Toller had led an on-line discussion on climate change and climate justice including a presentation on the changes we may see in Ottawa based on the Climate Atlas of Canada. Localizing possible outcomes of climate change to our own city makes it all very real (skating on the canal anyone?). See link for the Ottawa data.
Congregants are welcomed to join us in worship either by live stream (through the blue "Worship Online Button" above) or in person.
For those attending in person:
Glebe-St. James continues to follow public health guidelines regarding COVID-19. Public health officials recommend that each citizen protect themselves when interacting with members of the public. We maintain 4 HEPA air filters in the sanctuary for optimal air circulation.
We ask that you check yourself for symptoms of illness (respiratory, fatigue, fever, sore throat, nausea, loss of sense of smell) and stay away for 5 days after the last symptom. Remember that handwashing and/or sanitation remains a really effective way to limit the spread of illness. We welcome (but do not require) individuals to wear a mask, and ask people to be sensitive to the masking preferences of those around them. We urge everyone entering the church to stay up to date with COVID vaccinations and booster shots.
Thank you for joining our weekly e-Update. Your email has been sent to our Church Administrator, who will get back to you as soon as possible.
